“We wanted to introduce specials ... but not in the traditional sense,” says Aman Takhar, co-owner of local pizza delivery app Bianca.
Smartphone users all over the city have access to his designed-for-delivery pizzas at the click of a button. But Takhar wanted to reach beyond the traditional Neapolitan and Sicilian pies to create “something we could never think of ourselves”.
Enter Quang Nguyen’s innovative dessert bar Shibui. Takhar gave the team free rein: “We said, ‘Here’s a pizza base, what would you like to do with it?’ And they worked their magic.”
The result is decadent, salty sweet and best enjoyed with a few helping hands. Instead of tomato sugo, there’s dulce de leche (a sweet, sticky caramel that originated in Argentina). Loaded on top is banana, crunchy caramel popcorn and a dusting of popcorn powder to offset the sweet hit.
All going to plan, this could be Bianca's first collaboration of many with venues around town.
