Adelaide Central Market will open on Sundays as part of a voluntary six-month trial for vendors. The new hours, from 8am to 3pm, will commence on March 22.

Over 20 of the market’s 76 stalls have signed on, including House of Organics, The Smelly Cheese Shop, Les Deux Coqs, Kangaroo Island Stall, Barossa Fine Foods, Marino Meat Store, The Coffee Bean Shop, Le Souk and Real Falafel.

Adelaide Central Market Authority chair Nick Begakis says the trial will make the market “more accessible on weekends when customers, in particular families, have more time to shop … It’s important to listen to our customers and support our traders to meet customer demand so they continue to be prosperous and financially sustainable in the long term.”

It’s the first Sunday trading trial since the Adelaide Central Market Authority was formed in 2012.
