After Adelaide Fashion Week wrapped up yesterday, one thing was made very clear: South Australia is punching above its weight.

If you’ve been inspired by the fashion over the last several days and you’re looking to refresh your wardrobe, we asked local designers, including Acler’s Julia Ritorto, Rachel Van Brussel and Cristina Tridente, where they love to browse.

From vintage stores to local boutiques, here’s where designers shop in Adelaide.

Cathy Karuga of Yaneth is a Rundle Street diehard. “I love the mix of established names and independent stores, and how you can discover considered, local pieces next to global brands.”

Katya Komarova of the eponymous label is the kind of shopper who loves to wander – from the Mall to the East End. “That walk almost always tempts me to stop for a bite at one of the cosy cafes, like Hey Jupiter.”

Rachel Van Brussel is most likely to be found shopping in the East End, near her own flagship boutique. “It’s where you really feel Adelaide’s creative spirit. Special shout-outs to Yaneth, Little Ms Waste-Not, Pound Puppy Vintage and Filter Store/Shop Pond.”

Cristina Tridente of Couture Love Madness is obsessed with independent boutiques. “Little Ms Waste-Not and Miss Gladys Sym Choon on Rundle Street – you just never know what gems you’re going to find.”

Acler co-founder Julia Ritorto has a soft spot for Burnside Village. “I’ve always loved its home and lifestyle stores; since the redevelopment, it’s become even better. The fact that we finally have access to stores that used to only be available interstate is such a win for Adelaide. I love being able to browse in person and really enjoy the full in-store experience.”

The Wolf Gang’s founder Vanessa Pearce knows that Adelaide is full of pre-loved treasures. “I love the thrill of hunting for something unique, whether it’s a vintage designer piece or a one-of-a-kind find. Shop Pond is a personal favourite, and Better Together always has gems.”
