Gone are the days we needed the help of a third-party shipping company or a relative to bring back a Sephora haul from interstate or abroad. After months of anticipation, the international beauty retailer has confirmed it will open its first Adelaide store in Rundle Mall next month.

News of an Adelaide site broke – with very few details – earlier this year after local job vacancies were advertised online. But Sephora’s representatives have remained quiet on the location and opening date. In June the Advertiser revealed the shop would be at 90 Rundle Mall in the former Just Jeans site.

The global company was founded in Paris in 1970 and has since launched more than 2300 stores in 33 countries. After breaking into the Australian market with a Sydney store five years ago it now operates nine stores in NSW, six in Victoria and four in Queensland. An Adelaide site has been a long time coming.

“Every time we announce the opening of a new Sephora location we are inundated with requests for an Adelaide store from our South Australian-Sephora-super-fans,” Beth Glancey, country general manager of Sephora Australia & New Zealand, said in a press release.

“We have been eagerly waiting for the perfect location on Rundle Mall for some time now. We are excited that we are only weeks away from bringing the fun, dynamic and inspiring Sephora retail experience to our clients in Adelaide.”

The new store will bring “a whole new concept to Adelaide”, says Glancey. “It’s nothing you would have seen in any other Sephora in Australia. There will be a big focus on Sephora Services with three beauty studios, a Benefit Brow Bar and the first dedicated Skincare Studio in the country.” The make-up megastore will stock international beauty brands previously hard to find in Adelaide, such as Fenty Beauty by Rihanna, Tarte, Huda Beauty, Fresh and Marc Jacobs Beauty and its own Sephora Collection.

Sephora Adelaide will open in October.
