Swedish retail giant H&M will open its first Adelaide store on November 2.

It’s been a long time coming. The hugely popular retailer already has stores in New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia and the Australian Capital Territory. There are eight stores in Sydney alone.

The two-level Adelaide shop will span around 3000 square metres in Rundle Mall Plaza. It will be a “full concept flagship store” stocking apparel, underwear and accessories for men, women, kids and babies, as well as homewares.

“We are excited to finally be able to announce the opening date for our Rundle Mall Plaza store … and to offer our customers an incredible fashion shopping destination within Adelaide,” Thomas Coellner, Australian country manager for H&M, said in a press release.

“We are also looking forward to introducing our H&M Home concept to Adelaide as we feel this really rounds out our wide assortment offering.”

The shop will be the centrepiece of the $40 million redevelopment of Rundle Mall Plaza. The new-look four-storey plaza will include a dining precinct on level one, a health and wellbeing hub on level two, and a dedicated tech hub on the lower ground floor.

Weinert Group (owner of Rundle Mall Plaza) executive director Peter Weinert says “the time is right” for the redevelopment. “The completed development will provide a unique shopping experience and with H&M as the major tenant, we expect Rundle Mall Plaza to not only be a significant drawcard for Rundle Mall in particular, but Adelaide in general,” he said in a press release.

H&M will launch on November 2 at Rundle Mall Plaza, Adelaide.
