The first, on Wednesday August 1, will focus on winemakers from the Adelaide Hills: Charlotte Dalton from Charlotte Dalton Wines, Laura Carter from Unico Zelo and Kathy Drogemuller from Paracombe Wines.
“There are so many awesome women doing incredible things in the local wine industry, and we really wanted to bring them together and celebrate that,” says assistant general manager Kate Rowlands.
“We’re hoping this dinner will inspire other women in wine to tell their stories and continue their craft. By celebrating the achievements of these astonishing women, we’re putting a spotlight on those who may not necessarily have their voices heard in a male-dominated industry.”
Each winemaker will match their drops to a course from Level One’s menu of modern Asian share plates. Dishes will include locally caught kingfish sashimi with housemade white kimchi and green chilli; salmon tartare with crispy rice and shiso; “snowed corn” with teriyaki mayo, salted ricotta and togarashi; and Korean spicy pork with cabbage slaw before a dessert of strawberry choux.
There’ll also be a Q&A session hosted by Amanda Pepe. The dinners will continue over the coming months featuring producers from the Clare Valley, McLaren Vale and Barossa Valley.
