Umbrella Festival Presents: Go Live
Adelaide’s annual winter music event Umbrella Festival is designed to get people out of the house and supporting live music in our notoriously quiet colder months. Given it couldn’t go ahead in its traditional format this year, Music SA has launched Umbrella Festival Presents: Go Live, a state government-backed initiative aimed to give SA’s music industry a much-needed boost and encourage audiences to get out to a gig from September 18 to December 3.
In addition to launching an online gig guide, Music SA has programmed several “tent-pole events” over the next few months, including a series of parkland picnics called Parks and Rockreation, featuring rising stars Alana Jagt, Neon Tetra, Wanderers, Heaps Good Friends, Stellie and more.
Noise//Nature is partnering with the rebooted Botanica Lumina program, with a sonic and visual display at the Botanic Gardens after-dark. And during NAIDOC week Tandanya will host Blak Nite 2020, featuring First Nations artists J-MILLA and Katie Aspel.
The I Lost My Gig Australia site estimates that 65,000 job opportunities have been lost in the music industry, and over 380,000 people have been impacted by Covid-19.
