Reclink Community Cup 2019
The beloved grassroots footy game that pits local media against musos for a great cause returns to Norwood’s Coopers Stadium in August.
The Reclink Community Cup turns 25 this year and, on top of the annual head-to-head between the Adelaide Anchors (made up of players from Three D Radio, Fresh 927 and Radio Adelaide) and the Rockatoos, there’ll be half-time entertainment from local indie-punk outfit Young Offenders.
The main event on Sunday August 4 kicks off from midday, with the first bounce at 1pm. The festivities will launch with the annual Pie Night at The Hotel Metro (on July 28), which will see the Anchors and Rockatoos unite for pre-game entertainment, pies, raffles, silent auction, drinks and the annual Reclink Community Cup debate. There'll also be musical performances from Adelaide locals Sawcy Paws and Sean Kemp.
2019 marks the fifth iteration of the event in Adelaide, and this year’s theme is “From Little Things Big Things Grow”, inspired by Paul Kelly and Kev Carmody’s iconic song of the same name.
Last year’s event raised more than $20,000 for the South Australian branch of Reclink, which runs specialist sport, recreation and art programs for at-risk youth, people with mental illness or disability, people experiencing homelessness and domestic violence, and those struggling with addiction.
Recent state government funding cuts mean the fabulous footy fundraiser is more important than ever.
Entry is $5 on the gate, or a gold coin for kids under 16.
