Cherry Picking at Jauma Farm
Local winemaker James Erskine was on the front foot of the lo-fi wine movement in Australia, and he remains one of the country’s most accomplished producers.
His natural wines, under the Jauma label, are made with organic grapes from McLaren Vale. But he also owns an organic cherry farm in the Adelaide Hills with more than 1200 cherry trees bearing 14 different varieties.
You’ve tried the wines, now try the (freshly picked) cherries. For a month or so over summer, you can wander the orchard and hand-pick your own sweet ruby gems for $13 a kilo. While you’re there, pick up a few bottles of Jauma wine too.
If you’re heading up with a big group call 0408 075 138 in advance.
From 9am to 5pm Tuesday to Sunday.
