The team behind Beer & BBQ Festival is back with a sunny, summery version of its annual indoor winter fest. As the name suggests, BBF Homebrewed will have a predominantly local line-up of brewers, pitmasters and musicians over its three days at the Adelaide Showground.
“BBF Homebrewed is like the upstart little sibling of Beer & BBQ Fest, with a mantra to showcase South Australia’s world-class producers,” says event organiser Aaron Sandow. “We have been asked thousands of times why we don’t hold the festival in summer. So given everything that’s happened to our industry in 2020, we just thought, why not?”
The season change means a new focus on summer drinking and eating: think fresh seafood, sours, gose and “lager-itas” (colour me curious). Expect fire-licked foods from Angler Stirling, Barry’s Burgers, Boston Bay Smallgoods by Smoking Grillers, Caroclub, Gang Gang, Fire x SOI 38, and more to be announced. There will be vegan and vegetarian options on offer too.
Confirmed brewers include Woolshed Brewery, One Barrel Brewing, Pirate Life Brewing, Shifty Lizard and dozens more. A bunch of cidermakers, wineries and distilleries will also join the bill.
Alongside the other b’s – beer and barbeque – beats is the third pillar of the festival. This year’s line-up includes The Superjesus, West Thebarton, Wolf & Cub, Towns, Hey Harriet and more.
There’ll also be a silent disco, a tiki bar, carnival rides, barber, markets, and a chilli-eating competition. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased as day passes or a weekender (note: Sunday’s session is child and pooch friendly).
