Alpine Winter Festival
Beach-side Glenelg is transforming into a winter wonderland over 24 days when the Alpine Winter Festival takes over Moseley Square and the foreshore.
See the jetty in a new light thanks to a dramatic lights show and soundscape, inspired by the impact of a storm at sea. It’ll be complemented by warm Christmas lights and firepits set up all over the village.
At night, the open-air ice rink will come alive with immersive lights and projections. A 45-minute session on the rink is $15 for kids and $22 for adults (and a skating assist penguin is available to hire for $6).
There’s also a pop-up winter market curated by Gilles at The Grounds, taking cues from the Christmas markets of Europe. Shop for trinkets, local arts, crafts and produce.
Grab food and drinks from a stacked line-up of vendors, including Fire x Soi 38; Antica Pizzeria e Cucina; Meatball Gang; Souperb; Creperie & Co; Ragi’s Spice Kitchen and more.
There’ll also be live music from the likes of Naomi Keyte and Katie Pomeroy, Alana Jagt, Towns, Jimmy & The Mirrors Post Apocalypse Jam Band, Aidan 'Jazzy' Jones, Timberwolf, Jess Johns, Ricky Albeck, Heaps Good Friends, the Ah Hum Salsa Collective and even Peter Combe, who'll be playing both children's and adults' shows.
Entry is free Sunday to Thursday and before 7pm on Friday and Saturday. After 7pm it’s $10.
From 10am to late.
