Jam Factory will team up with the University of South Australia’s School of Art, Architecture and Design to present a furniture-design exhibition, Adelaide Modern.
The exhibition will be presented in three parts: The Past, The Present and The Future.
Acclaimed local designers Studio-Gram, Williams Burton Leopardi, Caren Elliss, Takeshi Iue, Peter Walker and Enoki will respond to six pieces of modernist furniture produced by mid-century South Australian manufacturers.
The exhibition also invites six teams of Jam Factory furniture studio associates and University of South Australia design students to reinterpret those same pieces while looking toward the future. They considered “the impact of smart and advanced technologies on human environments, the type of materials designers will be able to access, the evolution of production processes, and the future functions of furniture in interior and exterior environments”.
Adelaide Modern runs from October 5 to December 2 at Gallery One at the Jam Factory.
