Mum Cha is an all-day dumpling bar and yum cha joint. The team behind it have an impressive combined CV: a cast of players from Mother Vine, East End Cellars, Amalfi and Stanley Bridge Tavern are all intimately involved.
Mum Cha sits in the bright and clean two-level space formerly occupied by Mallozzi (though the Italian flag colours have made way for an approachable look).
Diners can order a selection of handmade dumplings and pan-Asian favourites while grabbing off-menu specialties from the dim sum carts racing around the narrow space. Food on the carts ranges from Mum Cha’s take on xiao long bao, Korean mandu and potsticker dumplings, to classic Chinatown dishes such as Hainanese chicken rice.
Given the team’s wine credentials, it’s no surprise that there’s a killer booze list here. Expect plenty of light and fresh whites and reds alongside the quintessential dim sum beer match, Tsingtao, plus a selection of teas.
