Memphis Slim’s House of Blues
Memphis Slim’s House of Blues is in the basement below Western-style watering hole Shotgun Willie’s – both of which are owned by Jon Di Pinto (the owner of the nearby Cry Baby, and lean heavily on American nostalgia.
This is more of a Chicago blues-style bar – when there isn't a live band playing, you're likely to hear some Muddy Waters or Willie Dixon tootling out of the speakers.
Next to the bar is a pool room, flanked by rows of giant timber slabs repurposed from the Outer Harbour Railway Line. The team built the jarrah bar and tables themselves.
Cocktails, meanwhile, are riffs on American classics. Signature drinks include a Raspberry Mint Julep; Fig Clover Club with gin, rose vermouth, fig jam, lemon and egg white; Cherry Crusta with brandy, orange curacao, maraschino, dark cherry and lemon; and Treacle, a twist on an Old-Fashioned with a house blend of rums, overproof rum (rum with a higher ABV), pear and vanilla. There is also a wide variety of old-world wines (from France and Italy mostly) and some bottled beers.
