Queenies Store got its start in late 2011 in a historic building on Jetty Road. Louise Closier – LeFevre Peninsula local and former owner of Semaphore’s Froot Cafe – first transformed the venue into a pizza and tapas restaurant, then a bustling daytime cafe.
Inside, the huge vintage beach portrait catches the eye; and a restored mechanic’s countertop leads you to the register. Enjoy a sip or bite indoors or outside on the balcony, or head to the side verandah if you have a four-legged companion.
The menu is all about eating simply and well. High-quality ingredients are locally sourced, bringing clear flavours without the need for too many condiments.
Topping the all-day breakfast list is The Queenie – free-range eggs, Skara Smallgoods bacon, slow-roasted tomato and ciabatta. Housemade tomato and dill baked beans come in a claypot; and the eggs Benedict features hollandaise made daily. For lunch, there is a range of tapas, salads, burgers and seasonal dishes.
Coffee is a special Queenies blend roasted by D’Angelo and brewed in the Wega espresso machine. Teas are by T Bar. There’s also a range of housemade juices, smoothies and milkshakes.
