Karma & Crow
Features
Janie Kammer and Alana Crowe decided to start a cafe and creative space while working together at The Corner Store in Dulwich. They founded Karma & Crow (a playful take on their surnames) in 2016, after six months of searching for an appropriate site.
The spacious cafe area features an island coffee bar and cake fridge surrounded by tables and chairs. All of the furniture is secondhand, and the stuff that looks new is reclaimed wood from roofs.
The seasonally changing menu offers all-day brunch staples but there are also thoughtful options that don’t rely on eggs on toast. You might find a veggie bowl with chilli kale and puffed grains, kaffir lime and coconut poached barramundi, or sticky pork belly salad. There's also the now-signature ricotta hotcakes with strawberry, white chocolate and berry labneh; honeycomb butter; and maple syrup.
Homemade cakes come from Kammer’s mum and danishes and pastries from Boulangerie 113. The converted warehouse also hosts nine studio spaces for artists. Janie’s sister, local artist Ellie Kammer, is among the mix.
