Fratelli Italian Deli

Fratelli Italian Deli is a family affair. It’s helmed by husband-and-wife duo Johnny and Renee Chaptini (who also run Burger Incredible) alongside their cousin Nissrine Daher and her partner Paul Skounos. The bright sandwich spot is inspired by the Chaptini’s trips to New Jersey. There, they ate their way through hefty New Jersey-style American-Italian rolls, which come packed with ingredients.

Every sandwich here is made-to-order, and the team encourages substitutions if you’d prefer to craft your own combo. Past favourites have included the hot honey sandwich on Schinella’s ciabatta with prosciutto, crushed pistachio and That’s Amore stracciatella from Melbourne, drizzled in sweet, spicy honey. Other standouts have included the chicken vodka hero, and the pastrami and Cubano toasted sandwiches.

You can soup up your sandwich with sides such as the pasta wedge – pasta set with olives and mozzarella then cubed, crumbed, fried and served with a Napoletana sauce. Plus, there’s a cocktail menu featuring a frozen Espresso Martini and a limoncello spritz.
