FIX Specialty Coffee
During the reimagining of a longstanding corner deli, Nick Wood and Tom McNeil looked to Melbourne for inspiration. They returned with coffee roaster Wide Open Road on side.
Their imagined cafe emerged rapidly with the help of Wide Open Road’s director of coffee, Dylan Hewitt, and blogger Charlie Murray of The Directory Coffee, who established the structure of the business and provided advice about the global coffee scene.
In turn, FIX became the first South Australian stockist of Wide Open Road. Its espresso blend, Shady Lane, is a caramel-y dark roast designed to work well with milk. It combines Colombian, Indonesian and Tanzanian beans.
The College Park space is relaxed with a sleek interior. A communal table is scattered with design magazines, the walls are clad in glossy tiles and the floor is exposed timber. The bench out front is sought-after for people (and dog) watching.
For the most part, FIX is about coffee, but there’s a small menu of breakfasts and lunches – sourdough ciabattas, toasted muesli, and French pastries.
