Reaching the top 50 on Masterchef in 2012 gave accountant Tina Williams the confidence to pursue her love of cooking as a career. But rather than start from scratch, she bought an eclectic vegan eatery, The Annex Cafe.

These days the menu is more accessible, governed by Tina’s ethos of holistic healthy eating and offering something for every diet, be it gluten-free, paleo, vegan or vegetarian. She wants her customers to come and eat with confidence, knowing what’s in their food.

This health focus often sees sports stars dropping in to enjoy the house-made almond milk, which is pressed, jarred and blended to get just the right balance. The homemade Snickers slice and fruchocs cake are just two popular raw cakes to choose from. All the produce is sourced from the Adelaide Hills and customers can expect organic where possible.

The space itself is characterised by funky mismatched chairs, exposed light globes and vintage knick-knacks. Paired with the unusual menu, you’ll likely leave here feeling positively nourished and at ease.
