The Gallery exudes an inner-city charm not often found in Adelaide.

Situated in the middle of the CBD, the venue comprises a functioning art space on the middle level, and on the roof, one of the most popular destinations for after-work drinks. The open-air space is idyllic in summer and beats back winter with the help of heaters and a retractable roof. Art and films are projected onto the neighbouring building, making the rooftop a bit of a gallery in itself.

Choose from a basic, South Australian-focussed wine list which includes bottles from Shaw + Smith, Yalumba and Langmeil. On tap there are eight beers including Hahn Super Dry and Little Creatures, plus a rotating range of Lobethal Bierhaus bottles.

You can pair your drinks with dips or cured meats, or order one of the many share plates, such as scallops with celeriac puree and cured pig cheek; fried cauliflower with yoghurt and walnuts; or confit duck leg with roasted pear.

The sliders are particularly great, with five different options (beef, panko-crumbed chicken, pulled pork, soft shell crab and a vegetarian eggplant). Any two paired with shoestring fries makes for a decent meal.
