When Jacob Barter soft launched his wine bar, Noori, in 2022 his father Gary Barter was moved to tears. It was the first time Jacob had seen his dad cry, and it wasn’t unfounded. The pair had spent a good part of a year transforming the former early-1900s horse barn and billiard saloon into a seaside wine haunt.

The bar is small but beautifully executed. The most impressive part might be the original 1914 well, a 20-foot hole and the room’s centrepiece (Gary modified it so that no wayward beverages or punters meet their fate down there).

The other main attraction is Jacob's impressive drinks menu – the culmination of his many years working in bartending, distilling and wine singling (including a long-time role at the Victory Hotel). The list crosses the globe, spanning classics to unicorn wines from nearby McLaren Vale, the Adelaide Hills and across South Australia.

The bar menu includes pintxos, Coffin Bay oysters and cheese toasties to accompany the wine, aperitifs and cocktails.
