Clever Little Tailor
In the heart of Adelaide’s West End there’s a bar with a nautical link, but Clever Little Tailor is no ocean themed watering hole. Part-owner Dana Whyte worked tirelessly on the visual elements (including the stylish front façade and intimate mezzanine booths) with his father, a carpenter and retired boat builder. It’s these little touches that leverage the bar above the competition.
The venue’s name was thought up in an “Oh crap, what do we call it?” moment by Whyte, Crispian Fielke and Josh Baker (who also own Pink Moon Saloon), but the local masses refer to this place affectionately as Clevers or CLT. For the trio, anything that adds to the whole Cheers vibe – local, small, convivial – is welcomed. Here is a place people can feel comfortable and at home.
Like all good local bars, CLT offers a diverse selection of beer and its experienced staff will whip up any cocktail you desire, with whisky and wine also a serious focus. An extensive range of whiskies has been sourced from inspired trips to Tasmania, USA, Japan and Europe.
The wine selection is humble while remaining seasonal, dynamic and tight. It changes two or three times a week, but it’s always full of quality options.
