Inspired by Southern Italy, Cantina Sociale boasts stripped-back elegance, with exposed brick, stone walls and recycled timber panelling surrounding a handful of raised benches and wine barrel tables.
This casual style extends to the finer details, with wine brought to the table in glass carafes, along with little bowls of truffle oil popcorn.
The menu is formed around simple European tapas dishes, which complement the wines. Pick at rustic wooden platters draped with finely sliced cured meats, crusty sourdough, muscatels and Kalamata olives, or choose from a small selection of seasonal tapas options, such as gourmet baby burgers or a pork, duck and fig terrine that’s served with French brioche.
Wine is served direct from the barrel and offered by the glass or carafe, while there’s also a small but diverse bottle list. The barrels are purchased from local winemakers such as Primo Estate, Geoff Hardy, Coriole Vineyards and BK Wines, accompanying a selection made exclusively for the bar.
