Cherry Bomb Cafe
Cherry Bomb is a rustic bakery set inside a converted 1870s stone house. It’s by Tanya Schroeder, who started out selling coffee and baked goods at the eclectic Ashton Post Office next door. In 2023, she converted her house – formerly the local general store – into the cafe’s second iteration.
The house has an enormous 3.5 by 4.5-metre wood-fired scotch oven, which is used to bake sourdough bread, pies, pasties, sausage rolls and other traditional bakery fare. There are also warming soups, toasties, and cherry pie made with fruit from nearby Ceravolo Orchards, alongside coffee that’s roasted down the road. Plus, on-theme sweets like cherry and ricotta cake and cherry brownies.
The rooms of the house are cosy, eclectic spots for customers to hang out (think long tables, vintage couches, reused furniture and roaring fires) plus a gallery and gift shop.
