Piccadilly Kitchen

If any cafe in the Hills deserves to be called a “hidden gem”, Piccadilly Kitchen is definitely it. Off the main roads, under the shade of tall trees and in the comfort of a well-loved and well-worn old general store, the Pote family goes about cooking incredible cakes, pies and salads for locals and visitors alike.

In summer, spring and autumn you’ll find sitting under the sun with a fresh vegetarian frittata an absolute treat. In winter, you’ll want to cuddle up inside with a coffee (from Ashton locals Moshico) and hearty chicken pot pie as the windows fog from the tiny kitchen’s heat. The milk tarts can be enjoyed year round.

Piccadilly Kitchen is a family affair. Even the illustrations that cover almost every wall (everything from pointy-nosed foxes to lazing avocado-men) are drawn up in house. You’re invited to add your own as well, if you’d like.

The service here is effective but not rushed, professional but totally friendly. This is the sort of place to go and feel cosy and cared for. It’s the model Adelaide Hills cafe.
