It's more than likely you will have eaten, if not at least heard of Sonoma – an artisan bakery crafting sourdough bread, which has become the choice of many cafes, delis and providores across Sydney. Becoming synonymous with authentic and genuine sourdough, the name proudly appears on menus across town, proving its status as a benchmark for high-quality bread and gourmet cakes and pastries.

A nostalgic and humble story tells the tale from the start – a father-inspired passion that after much dedication and hard work has led to a small chain of sophisticated bakeries located in Paddington, Bondi, Glebe, Waterloo and Alexandria.

Sandwiches, press grills and paninis join perfectly baked cakes, flaky pastries, quiches, tarts, homemade muesli and seasonally changing specials. Yet, first and foremost, it's all about the bread. Loaves decorate the humble windows, awaiting their fate at the hands of local bread fiends, sliced up and served with avocado, Persian feta, salmon, cured meats or jam.

What may have started out as a humble operation is now sports distinctive styling, décor and a stylishly grown-up and refined interior. The heart's not lost though, with staff extending the passion and unwavering quality of Sonoma through their expert knowledge, friendliness and modest smiles.
