Double Roasters has a steady following that troops in for coffee, breakfast and lunch on any given day. On Sunday and you might even be waiting for a table or ferrying your take-away to the park across the way.
But it’s worth it, because these guys know their stuff, from single origin to terroire-specific blends, and anyone of the team is happy to chat brewing methods and flavour profiles with you. Owners Scott Robertson (ex Pigeon Coffee, Surry Hills), James Brown and Garry Parkes (Avenue Road Cafe, Mosman) are hospitality veterans with an eye for detail.
The converted 1950’s warehouse space offers old-world charm in spades, from the reclaimed tables and benches to the ex-industrial light fittings and warped tennis racquet eclectica. Breakfasts include sautéed field mushrooms and pecorino on sourdough, Pembroke farm free-range eggs, or avocado and feta mash with tomatoes and rocket on toast. Lunch throws pork belly or poached chicken sandwiches into the mix, but really, it’s all about the coffee.
