Sydney Festival Parramatta: yMusic

Thu 24th January, 2013 – Fri 25th January, 2013
7:00pm – 12:00am
Salon Perdu Spiegeltent
Prince Alfred Park, Cnr Victoria Road & Church Street, Parramatta

Sydney Festival Parramatta is back this January with a jam-packed program of free and ticketed events to spice up your summer.

Amongst the swell lineup of performances is New York’s yMusic, a group of chamber musicians who break all musical barriers and ingeniously fuse the worlds of indie with classical.

Intricate, articulate, irreverent and percussive is their style, combining virtuosirty with energy in a manner that renders their performances ambitious and inspiring.

They’ve performed and recorded with Björk, Jay Z, Dirty Projectors, Grizzly Bear, Bon Iver, Peter Gabriel and Vampire Weekend just to name a few, creating their own niche of music.

Hailed as “one of the groups that has really helped to shape the future of classical music”, the sextet’s debut LP Beautiful mechanical – which includes compositions by Annie Clark and Shara Worden – was voted as the number 1 classical album of 2011 by Time Out New York.

Be enthralled by the sounds of yMusic as they perform at the Salon Perdu Spiegeltent over two consecutive nights.
