Independent creative agency Frost is opening the doors to its long-running series of industry talks to a public audience. Originally founded in London, the agency is now based in Sydney, with creative director and CEO Vince Frost widely considered one of the most influential (and certainly awarded) designers on the scene. Curated by Frost, the series of lectures features speakers considered to be leaders in the local and international design industry.
Centred around the coupling of design thinking and business acumen, the deFrost talks have until now been staff and client events only, with recent speakers including Droga5’s Sudeep Gohil, award-winning typographer and environments designer Golnar Roshan and Christian Hogue from animation and effects studio Lost in Space.
Seats are limited to 50 guests, offering participants the opportunity to hear inspiring insights and take part in provocative discussion at Frost’s Surry Hills warehouse studio. “We are all here to inspire and be inspired,” says Frost. “Our main product is ideas that are realised through design. We set out to make a positive difference to people’s lives and the world. This is a vision that should be shared and I want to involve others who are interested in the power of design and ideas to achieve these things”.
The next deFrost talk is on Thursday July 5 and featured David Stevenson and Thierry Lacoste from architecture and urban design practice Lacoste + Stevenson. The garnered recent acclaim for their Chinatown Red Lantern project (seen on Dixon Street in the CBD), which won the award for Small Project Architecture at the NSW Architecture Awards on June 28.
