We pick the acts you can’t afford to miss at this weekend’s Meredith Music Festival.

With Aunty Meredith celebrating her 22nd birthday this year, the loyal disciples prepare once more to convoy to the majestic grounds that are the Supernatural Amphitheatre outside the sleepy town of Meredith. Big show international acts are flown in, the local sonic rogues are primed, the eskies prepared for a stuffing of Melbourne Bitter cans and the hearts and minds of revellers ready to be ravaged by the three-day and two-night musical binge. No clashes of timetables, no dickheads, one love. Running the risk of preaching to the converted, here are just some of Broadsheet’s must-sees over the course of the weekend.

German artist Thomas Demand’s colossal photo works prove as familiar as they are illusory.

There’s something not quite right here. The light is almost convincing enough – the warm afternoon sun and dappled shadows dancing amid the dense, twists and knots of leaves and foliage. But even then, there’s something ever so slightly askew. Perhaps it's the colours; the greens just that tad too inorganic. Or perhaps it’s leaves; their edges just that tiny bit too clean.

Even with the benefit of background and context, the monumentally scaled photographs of Thomas Demand induce a kind of quiet, speculative sense of surprise and unease. That the vistas, interiors, machinery and various other objects and scenes that score the German artist’s photographs are in fact meticulously constructed paper sculptures – made, quite remarkably, to scale in his studio before their eventual, post-photograph destruction – transports his work to a whole new plane.

Colin Wilson, head chef at Sebastian’s Food & Wine, shows us how to make spiced farro tacos – the perfect post dip lunch.

This summery taco recipe takes a little bit of preparation, but the results are worth it. It’s a great one to whip up at home on a warm summer’s night, after a long day at the beach. The recipe below is vegetarian and suitably filling, but if you want some protein just add grilled chicken.

Alternatively if you can pop into Sebastian’s Food & Wine and have head chef Colin Wilson make it for you. Sitting right next to Hampton Station, Sebastian’s is a great place to refuel before or after a dip at the beach.
