Channelling a somewhat post-industrial revolution vibe, Little Markov is the younger sibling of Markov Place. A low-key bar that serves up a broad range of wines and a small but considered beer selection. Little Markov flies the ‘speak-easy’ flag with its communal feel and warm, friendly atmosphere. It is rather fitting considering it is on the site of a former bottle shop. There are vintage posters and exposed beams, bare lamps and warm, plump seats which combine to encourage leisurely chats and appreciative sips.

One of the advantages of being situated in the Lygon Street Precinct, and being next door to big brother Markov Place is that the food offerings are exceptionally good. Bar food ranges from the shoe-string fries, tapas to oysters which hints at what’s on offer next door. The range of dessert wines on offer ensures a sweet ending to the evening. This is an ideal spot to end your day or to prepare for an evening at La Mama’s Courthouse theatre or Cinema Nova across the street.
