A table in the sun on the Stokehouse’s upper deck is one of the city's iconic dining experiences, with stunning water views along the palm lined foreshore ensuring this much loved beach shack remains Melbourne’s go-to venue for celebration lunches, proposals and impressing out-of-towners.

Thanks to the addition of a flexible, all day grazing menu and a smart refit by Pascale Gomes McNabb, (Cutler & Co., Cumulus Inc.), popping by for a prosecco and a snack is also on the cards, either on the deck or at the new indoor bar area.

White walls, sleek cream banquettes and American oak floorboards house the bright beach house feel, while afternoon sun pours into the room of brushed bronze pillars, red and gold upholstery and gold and silver mirrors. It’s sleek and modern at the Stokehouse, which sees more than its fair share of champagne corks popped in his wings.

Chef Anthony Mussara’s smart Modern Australian, Mediterranean-leaning menu, can be enjoyed as a five-course degustation designed each day for $120. In keeping with the relaxed vibe, wine is deliberately kept separate, allowing diners the freedom to stick to one bottle or let sommelier Lincoln Reilley help select matching wines.
