Located beneath South Yarra’s boutique Olsen Hotel, Steer Bar & Grill offers a menu that incorporates South American, European and Australian influences while keeping key theme as distinctly Brazilian.
With the culinary team headed up by executive chef Stacy Thompson, Raul Moreno Yague (ex Head Sommelier of Vue de Monde) acts as Wine Director. In sourcing the finest and freshest Australian produce, Thompson works to combine them with her own experiences of traveling and working in South America, layering an Australian influence over traditional Brazilian cooking styles.
Expect skewers of meat cooked churrasco style on a charcoal grill with a fiery focus and a healthy kick of chili for good measure. Not to mention the abundance of seafood also on offer in the airy split-level restaurant.
The real eye catcher though is the sculpture, by artist Cezary Stuglis, of a three and a half meter raging bull. Thank god for the high ceilings, or you could feel a little trapped by his aggressive stance.
