When it's done well, nothing pleases more than the classic combination of pizza and beer. This south-of-the-border twin of restaurateur Mauro Marcucci’s highly successful Pizza e Birra in Surry Hills, Sydney, is characterised by the same blend of traditional Italian cuisine coupled with a palatable array of boutique Australian beers (including the restaurant’s very own birra, brewed especially by Holgate Brewhouse in the Macedon Ranges) as well as local and Italian wines.

Situated on the former Termini site, Pizza e Birra is right in the heart of Fitzroy Street and provides an ambient, cosy setting. Served piping hot from the wood-fired oven, with the cheese still sizzling away, these thin, crispy based pizzas are top-notch.

There are plenty of other options, too, to choose from on the menu; from entrees such as baked eggplant with buffalo mozzarella and tomato sugo, to the signature pappardelle with braised duck and tomato ragout.
