Reminiscent of a Paris cafe circa 1953, things feel a little French at The Estelle bar and kitchen. From the vintage chairs and pale grey-and-pink tiles to the delicate glass light fittings and the decadent menu. It’s a casually elegant diner suitable for any kind of rendezvous.

You might crave a pain au chocolat at breakfast, but only at the weekends. Lunch any day might consist of favourite French comfort food such as Croque Madame or a rich house-made truffled parmesan gnocchi served with a creamy pea and pepper puree. The menu is designed to be shared to create a casual dining experience, but the food gets a little more fancy at dinner – start with the Sydney rock oysters before moving onto a whole baked snapper served with a horseradish, shallot and rocket salad. Wash it down with a glass of bubbly or something from the wine list of both local and European drops.

The Parisian similarities stop short at the service, which is laid-back, friendly and inviting.
