‘Cantina’ is a flexible word—it can describe a bar room, salon, wine shop, canteen, cellar, diner or take away joint. Since chef/director Paul Wilson and creative director and part-owner Julian Gerner (from the Albert Park Hotel, Prince of Wales, Middle Park Hotel and the Newmarket)’s Mexican offering embodies all these things, the title Acland St Cantina is perfectly fitting.

Diners can expect a focus on organic, healthy ingredients in familiar favourites like tacos and quesadillas. Unusual and less calorie friendly additions include Mexico’s answer to fondue, Queso Fundido, and an indulgent salted caramel ice cream churros taco for dessert.

The bar stocks dozens of beers, tequilas and whiskies, and an extensive list of rum and wine. There's classic cocktails and a range of playful Margaritas, try the strawberry and basil with cracked black pepper for something different.

Night owls can stay late at the Cantina to enjoy a dark, moody vibe, where live music with a global hip hop theme takes over post-sunset.
