Since 1981, The Tofu Shop has been making its own tofu and transforming the humble bean curd into various creative dishes, both savoury and sweet. A simple cafe with counter seating, a few outside tables and soft, background reggae, the focus here is on fresh, healthy food that nurtures the body and the soul.

There are at least five different dishes available every hour, including a tofu dish, lentils, pumpkin or eggplant. Spices such as cardamom, cumin and ginger abound. It’s a wholesome and generous bowl of goodness that leaves you feeling grateful and nourished.

Also on offer are falafels, samosa and fresh wraps. For dessert, try the array of curious sweet tofu slices, including date and apple or mango and coconut. The rosewater or green tea tofu ice cream is a favourite.
