Located inside a converted stationmaster’s building, Mart is a cosy home-away-from-home cafe at the Middle Park light-rail tram stop.
At Mart (that’s tram spelled backwards) you’ll be greeted by a steady flow of customers enjoying the calm environment of the charming shabby-chic decor, cheerful staff and gentle music to ease you into your breakfast/lunch. Seat yourself inside amongst cushions and marvel at the jam trolley, or enjoy a spot on the breezy verandas, with a view of passing people and the leafy surrounds of Middle Park.
Mart’s menu offers a variety of dishes, from pancakes to pasta to homemade lemon pie, but it’s the corn fritters that are the cafe’s most requested dish. If you’re looking for a small sweet, Mart’s selections of tiny biscuits are delicious washed down with a cuppa.
This could just be the most enjoyable tram stop you’ve ever waited at.
