Luncheonette
173 Rankins Road
Kensington

Inspired by sandwich shops in New York's East Village, Luncheonette has all the ingredients of a great local cafe – friendly service, Coffee Supreme brew and a sunlit window seat that is fodder for many a deskbound daydream.

Luckily, good ingredients extend to the menu with dishes such as baked eggs with asparagus and gruyere, waffles with pistachio and stewed rhubarb and homemade granola featuring locally and Queen Vic Market sourced ingredients. Luncheonette also offers simple middle-of-the-day meals of baguettes and sharable dishes such as salmon gravlax.

Luncheonette’s white-washed walls, vintage diner relics and hand-painted signs complete the comfortable, ‘cute-not-kitsch’ vibe. For a humble, warming and delicious experience, wander in from the leafy streets of Kensington for a ham and cheese sandwich, muesli or honey and fruit toast.
