You’ll find it tucked away in an alley near the top end of Little Collins Street, within the bold Monaco House.

Liason is owned and operated by Danny Colls, the man behind the iconic Cafe Racer in St Kilda. With Liaison, he’s taken all the elements that made Racer so successful and distilled them down to their core. Good, very personal service, a simple menu based on good ingredients and Genovese coffee served quickly.

Simplicity is key here. The menu is small, but seems to be enough for everyone who comes through. Think freshly made soup, sandwiches and cold tuna risotto. You can choose from a variety of different breads for toast and delicious pastries or muesli for your breakfast.

The space is small too, but they’ve made the most of it. The cafe is dominated by the island kitchen and coffee bar, around which their many regulars sit and chat with the staff and each other.
