Hooked can be found in Windsor and Fitzroy, replete with some of Melbourne’s best gourmet fish and chips on the go. Not exactly your old-school shop run by that sweet little Greek couple with Chiko Roll posters hanging about and a Moon Patrol arcade game in the corner, Hooked offers a point of 21st century difference
From fresh, cholesterol-free, Australian cottonseed oil to Monteith's Golden Ale and Crushed Apple Cider on tap at Brunswick Street, crowds can also take their variations on traditional fare (tuna nicoise salad for one) and go enjoy it in the beer garden.
In operation since 2006 at its Windsor premises, Hooked opened its Brunswick Street eatery in September 2011. Inspired by owner, Ray ‘The Captain’ Good’s recent sojourn to New York where he sampled the city's taco trucks and oyster bars, the shop has genuine sense of foodie focus.
Collaborating with Neale White from Melbourne’s Papa Goose, the pair expands on a spicy tomato based soup with barramundi, mussels and prawns, with crispy chips served with ribbons of sweet potato. They now offer grilled barramundi burgers, fish tacos and shucked oysters too.
Swamped with nautical décor, including its Mermaid Brand smoked sardines canvas, Hooked is the place to be for the ultimate Vitamin D fix.
