Within the idyllic surrounds of the Abbotsford Convent is the Convent Bakery. The steepled, Gothic architecture and lush grounds play host to a range of community events with the Convent Bakery at its warm, welcoming hub. Extensive outdoor seating overlooking the lawns is ideal for the warmer months when live music plays every weekend. Inside, the traditional austerity of convent architecture, vaulted ceilings and visible stonework, is tempered by jaunty music, brightly-coloured paintings and a mouthwatering selection of bread, pastries, pies, cakes and tarts.

A full breakfast and lunch menu is baked onsite in two masonry wood-fire ovens that were built for the convent in 1901. Old fashioned bread-making techniques using organic flour and artisan baking skills produce rustic, full-flavoured loaves while fair trade organic coffee is roasted on the premises. Aside from the regular menu, patrons can enjoy a traditional afternoon tea of freshly baked scones accompanied by all the trimmings and, in the summertime, the gargantuan ovens produce rustic wood-fired pizzas late into the evening.

The adjacent Boiler Room is licensed, with an impressive selection of beer and wine and is open until late for patrons to enjoy a drink and the ongoing festivities that make the Abbostford Convent an essential weekend destination.
