What once was washing machines churning out suds and bright whites on a sunny corner opposite the Armadale train station, is now a busy little establishment, still taking your spare gold coins, but for coffee rather than a dryer.

The white and green space with huge windows, open brickwork details and concrete floors is airy, bright and as fresh as the trademark name suggests.

Breakfasts are the drawcard - think caramelised French toast soldiers with maple and bacon, or house cured ocean trout on potato roesti.

Coffee is Allpress, breads are Noisette or baked in-house and there’s a focus on free range and locally sourced produce.

If there is a downside to Coin Laindry Cafe is the 30min wait that you may be forced with depending upon the time of your arrival on either Saturday or Sunday - but the meal certainly compensates for any inconvenience.

But it still beats doing the washing.
