Wine List of the Year

Rockpool Bar and Grill wins Australia's Wine List of the Year award held last night.

he Australia’s Wine List of the Year awards were held last night. Melbourne Rockpool Bar & Grill was the winner of this important restaurant accolade, selected by a judging panel of 28 wine connoisseurs from both home and abroad.

The Rockpool wine list came up trumps for its ‘quality and depth’, and sommelier David Lawler was also acknowledged for his work with an individual award.

Finalist from across the country included Bentley Restaurant and Bar, Pilu, Quay and Est, as well as Melbourne’s Vue du Monde.

Past Winners for Australia’s Wine List of the Year award includes sibling restaurant to this year’s winner, Rockpool in Sydney (2009), as well as Victorian winners Taxi, Circa and Walter’s Wine Bar.

Other awards given last night were won by The European for Best Cafe/Brasserie Wine List and Lake House for Best Country Wine List.

The Gourmet Traveller Wine Readers’ Choice Award was given to Royal Mail Hotel in Dunkeld, Victoria.
