There's a really good reason to eat out on Australia Day as Victorian restaurants unite to raise funds for Queensland flood relief.

T

he depth of destruction and loss caused by the current floods in Queensland has left many here wondering how to help. This desire has seen Victoria Restaurants Unite come into being just a few days ago. Alistair Dobbs, Executive Chef of Richmond’s Church Street Enoteca and restaurant consultant Erez Gordon are ‘rallying the troops’ so to speak by asking restaurants to register with them and hold fundraising events in their establishments on Australia Day, 26th January.

“We want to collate the goodwill and get people involved,” explains Gordon, “ the restaurant can choose to serve and charge whatever suits them and donate 100% of their takings for the day. We’re hoping the staff in the restaurants will register and volunteer their time too.”

Restaurants and cafes need to register their interest at victorianrestaurantsunite.com.au which has just gone live today, they also have a Facebook page.
