ast month, we introduced the chance to bring the pages of Broadsheet to life via our new initiative with Bank of Melbourne, The Quarters. Exploring the very best of Melbourne, quarter by quarter, we’re giving you the chance to win the ultimate day in each part of the city.
First up was the Parliament Quarter, with our first Quarters winner Jessica Piper given the chance to explore the glamorous Paris end of the city. Jess recently jammed her Saturday full of eating, drinking and shopping at some of our favourite city spots with one very lucky friend. “It was such a good excuse to go some places we hadn’t been to before,” Jess tells us.
After starting the day with breakfast at laneway nook Hoboken, Jess stopped into Lucy Folk’s jewellery boutique to pick up a few shiny bits and bobs (taco friendship bracelets and clove earrings) before relaxing over a long lunch at Pei Modern (four courses of the seasonal best by Mark Best, including his signature salty/sweet tomato dessert).
After lunch, the two continued on their city adventures to cutting-edge contemporary art space Murray White Room to see the current Sangeeta Sandresegar installation with Murray White himself, who took them on a private tour of the gallery. From creative endeavours to more dining, the afternoon of art led them straight into dinner, where Senoritas was on the cards. With a hard day of shopping, eating and art viewing behind them, the Mexican eatery seemed like just the right way to ease the duo into the night with chicken mole, duck pastatas and king fish ceviche, “which was the best thing I ate all day,” says Jess.
But to really seal the deal on their adventure in the Parliament Quarter, Jess stopped in for a nightcap at Von Haus, topping it off with a fancy bottle of Barolo to celebrate a day well spent. Talk about spoilt rotten! For more about Jess’s day in the city, read here.
Next up on the cards for our Quarters competition is Prahran, with prizes courtesy of Bank of Melbourne. To enter, head over to The Quarters website, watch some videos on the venues and answer a couple of questions to test your knowledge of the Quarter to win.
Experience the best of the city, quarter by quarter, thanks to Broadsheet and Bank of Melbourne.
