Food & Drink

In Afghanistan, you can quite literally hail your next cup of tea. Now you can do it too in inner-city Melbourne, courtesy of T2.

Y

our afternoon cuppa is about to get a little more exotic than your run-of-the-mill tea and milk combo at the office desk. Soon to be peddling at inner city T2 stores, the Tea Cyclist is something like an ice-cream man from the days of yore, selling steaming cups of freshly brewed teas from his colourful cart.

T2 will be showing off their newest flavours all the way from Afghanistan this month by The Afghan Tea Cyclist, who last weekend peddled steaming cups of cardamom-infused black tea on Chapel Street and through Fitzroy.

The Afghan Tea Cycle was designed by Afghan artist Aslam Akram, as part of collaboration between the City of Dandenong and RMIT. The distinctly Arabian-themed cart is also raising awareness around the Afghan Bazaar Cultural Precinct in Dandenong, which, if the T2 tea cart is any indication, is probably a little piece of Afghanistan right here in Melbourne.

Catch the tea-man in action this weekend on Saturday 24 September in front of T2 stores throughout the city.
