The Kodiak bear is America’s largest species of bear, and one hell of a symbol and statement of intent for a new venue. Occupying the space of the short-lived Bar Lagom, and the more famous Ginger Cocktail Bar before that, the folk behind this new Brunswick Street offering are set to healthily increase the street’s bar biodiversity.
Celebrating many of the things that make American food and drink culture great, The Kodiak Club has opened its doors into a much warmer space full of the promise of tasty American offerings. Bourbon and rye whiskies hold a building focus in the bar, yet are balanced by shrewd clean selections of wines, beers and a very tasty sounding cocktail list, while novelties like trashy canned Mexican beers and root beer add tongue-in-cheek value.
The kitchen, whilst still not quite open, plans to offer a trove of classics we don’t see here much, like buffalo wings, house-made corn bread, sticky lamb ribs (an Australian take on the theme), molasses-laced Illinois meatballs and more. Until then, enjoy addictive pretzels or beef jerky while sipping on a root’n’rye and overlooking the glorious panorama of the bar.
