Friends of Mine (FOM) took over the space that was previously Fusion, and began welcoming customers on Thursday last week. Add some sunny yellow awnings, rip out a few walls and inject a bit of Mr. Jones signature jazz style and you’ve got a cafe fit for breakfast and lunch. The front room used to run illegal betting, so you’re coffee will soon be showing up as the 100/1 on the vintage betting board, rather than a latte, and there’s glamour in spades thanks to the chandeliers- one hanging over the front counter which used to be a jewellery display case.

But there’s still the raw brick, chalkboards and industrial lighting that regulars of Jones’ other cafes have come to know and love. Breakfast is an all day everyday affair- with the famous smashed avocado and golden folded scrambles, as well as a fancy pick.me.up.please toasted bacon and egg bap roll or baguettes and piadini. Seasonal lunch might be Pork trotter and potato croquettes with grain mustard piccalilli or Wagyu beef braseola with wild rocket, heirloom tomato and aged balsamic.Breads are Noisette, eggs are Green and happy and the salmon is Tom Coopers- all reflecting Jones penchant for top quality suppliers.
