ew all-day dining room, Niche on Bridge, opened yesterday on Bridge Road. The Saade family, who have a few successful diners in Melbourne, including Toorak Deli and St Kilda’s Phamish, are behind the fancy fit-out and operation of the 250-seat room at the bottom of a new apartment block. Designed by IMA Architects in Richmond, the large space is bordered by glass walls with a bar/private dining room that is sound-proofed for the customers in the dining room and the nearby residents.

Chef, Justin Beilin, who was most recently head chef at Hairy Canary and Hairy Little Sister has created a large menu with all-day breakfasts, a large mezze selection, starters, mains and a section dedicated to the wood-fired pizza oven. His focus is on sustainability in the broad sense of the word, “We offer a sustainable choice with the produce we use but also financially. A restaurant needs to be aware of economics to survive.”

The goal for Niche on Bridge is straightforward, “We want it to be a place where anyone can come anytime of the day for good quality food that doesn’t break the bank.”
